Emil was born in Ukraine and educated in Germany and Canada. He has worked with several well-known Canadian architectural firm, Baton Broadcasting (CFTO), and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). Emil has designed sets for many Canadian and Ukrainian theatre productions. He has had several solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group shows in Canada and the United States. Currently, Emil is creating icons, but he also works in stained glass, enamel, mosaic and metals. He is a member of the International Enamel Society and winner of the 1996 BAC Craft Award for Best Project in Mosaic.
